The Bush family is in mourning this week after the death of former First Lady Barbara Bush, who passed away on Tuesday at the age of 92.
After Barbara’s death, Melania spoke out to pay tribute to her in a truly classy way, and Laura Bush is already letting her know how much the entire family appreciates this.
Immediately after Barbara’s death, Melania released a brief statement saying that she would be attending the former first lady’s funeral on Saturday. She added that she will not be allowing any reporters to accompany her, as she wants the Bush family to have as much privacy as possible during this difficult time.
Mad World News reported that Laura let Melania know that this statement was appreciated during an interview with Maria Bartiromo on Wednesday.
“Mrs. Bush, you remain one of the most popular and loved first ladies of all time. And you have your own incredible leadership style. Do you want to pass on any words of advice to our current first lady Melania Trump?” Bartiromo asked.
The Bush and Trump families have not seen eye to eye ever since Donald Trump beat Jeb Bush in the presidential primaries, and this would have been a prime opportunity for Laura to knock Melania down a peg. However, Laura chose to go a very different route with this response after seeing how Melania responded to Barbara’s death.
“Well, no, I wouldn’t give her advice, but I have met Melania – she invited me to tea at the White House. She’s a beautiful woman, and very, very lovely,” said Laura. “I think she will do really very well.”
Clearly, the Bushes saw a very different side of Melania this week. We’re glad that they’re finally getting to see her as the elegant and classy First Lady that she is!
